Wise and Wonderful is a regular event held every Tuesday 1.30pm-3.30pm at the Katikati Community Centre for seniors in our community.
Quizzes, board games, cards and bingo are regular activities and other activities include guest speakers, singing, craft, cooking and anything else that the group puts forward.
Entry is by gold coin donation and afternoon tea is provided - and all seniors are welcome.
“Some people come along each week because there is a high emphasis on enjoyment and having a fun time meeting with others, while other people choose what they like to do and when they can come along,” says Irene Curnock, Wise and Wonderful coordinator.
The group was created over two years ago and highlights to date include the Christmas celebrations, a high tea and ‘just celebrating life’. “Carole gives us a quote each week to ponder and Stan has puzzles for us to solve,” says Irene.
“Our values for our group are fun, respect, laughter and companionship.”
While transport is provided for those who don’t have their own, the Centre welcomes anyone who can help by being a driver every fortnight. Any donations to use towards special occasions are also welcomed.
